90kms Sahara Trek - In support of Alzheimer’s Society
We’re incredibly proud (and perhaps a little nervous for her!) to share that Alison, our Business Manager, is taking on an extraordinary personal challenge this October in support of Alzheimer’s Society. Over the next nine months, Alison will be training to take part in the approx 90kms Sahara Trek.
Alison shares:
“By 2030, one million people in the UK will be living with dementia. That’s one million families facing confusion, heartbreak and helplessness; unless we act now. This challenge will push me in every way imaginable. There will be sweat, tears, laughter, sore muscles and probably a few questionable tan lines, but every step will be worth it. I’m doing this for my mum, and for everyone facing this cruel disease. I'm determined to get fit, stay focused and conquer those dunes one sandy step at a time. The vibrant, fun, fearless woman I grew up admiring, is now just a shadow of her former self. Watching someone you love disappear in front of your eyes is something you can never truly prepare for. It’s devastating and it’s why I’m doing this."
As Alison prepares for her adventure this October, we’ll be backing her all the way with a couple of fundraising events along the way. These events will be a wonderful opportunity to come together, support her goals and be part of the journey from the very beginning.
In the meantime, if you would like to read her full story and support Alison on this incredible journey, you can sponsor her via the link below:
